A court building appears to be littered with bullet holes following an incident.

Police were called to Swindon Magistrates’ Court at around 7am this morning (Tuesday) following reports of significant damage to the front windows.

A close-up look reveals, in most cases, a small round hole with some smashed glass around it – which could have been caused by bullets or ball bearings.

The force have no confirmed whether or not they believe a firearm was involved, but several officers were guarding the building on the precinct for most of the day.

The court was open and operating as usual, with some areas cordoned off for safety reasons and to allow further investigation.

Chief inspector Al Lumley said: “A number of windows in the court building have been damaged which would have undoubtedly created quite a bit of noise.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area near the magistrates court overnight.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage from the area near the court building in Princes Street between 6pm yesterday (04/09) and 7am today.”

If you can help, please call 101 quoting log 57 of today (5 September).
