A suspected drink driver has been arrested after a crash near Malmesbury.
Police officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4040 at around 5.15am this morning (12 September).
The abandoned vehicle, which had extensive front end damage, was located near Dog Trap Lane, Minety.
Following a search of the local area, within minutes the suspected driver was found and arrested when he provided a sample of breath at the roadside.
The reading, according to Wiltshire Police, was more than twice the legal limit.
He was later taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon as a precaution given the significant impact to the car.
A spokesperson said: “This is the 4th person arrested since the beginning of September in our area for drink/drug driving.
“If you suspect someone of drink or drug driving and it is ongoing call 999, but only if it is safe to do so alternatively use the non emergency 101 number.”
