A group of suspected catalytic converter thieves sped off in a car when they were disturbed by the owners of the vehicle earlier this month.

Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident in Ludgershall to come forward.

The suspected attempted theft took place in Astor Crescent at around 11.30pm on Saturday 14 August and police want to hear from anyone who has information relating to it.

The suspects are said to have fled the scene in a BMW 1 series moments after being confronted by the vehicle’s owner.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following an incident on Saturday 14 August when residents of a property in Astor Crescent in Ludgershall confronted three men who appeared to be attempting to steal a catalytic converter from their car.

“At about 11.30pm homeowners woke to hear a loud noise coming from outside their property and saw three masked men interfering with their Mazda MX5.

“When disturbed, the suspects made off at speed in a white BMW 1 series car.

“If you can help please call us on 101 quoting log 54210079678”
