Bomb disposal experts were yesterday called in to investigate whether unknown substances found at a house in Swindon were dangerous, but they were soon declared safe.

The Royal Logistic Corps were tasked to Pinnock’s Place, Upper Stratton, at around 5pm with a 100-metre cordon put in place around the area, extending to Ruskin Avenue.

Police found the substances whilst visiting the address to make an arrest in the morning.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 50s, were arrested on suspicion of importation of class A drugs. Both have both been released under investigation whilst police enquires continue.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Thanks for everyone’s patience in Pinnocks Place, Upper Stratton, yesterday evening. Officers had attended the address earlier in the day to make an arrest and whilst at the property, a number of bottles containing unknown substances were located.

“Due to initial concerns regarding these substances, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene as a precaution. EOD determined that the property was secure and no dangerous substances were identified.”
