Police have been in attendance of an illegal rave in Wiltshire overnight.

The event started at around 6pm last night (Saturday, 1 October), with dozens of people spotted walking along Pear Tree Lane, in Erlestoke, near Devizes.

The rave is understood to have taken place on military land, part of the Salisbury Plain Training Area.

The Ministry of Defence Police, supported by Wiltshire Police, have at the incident – with Pear Tree Lane closed to the public as they attempt to disperse attendees.

According to locals, the organisers have confirmed that the event will finish at 10am on Sunday (2 October) and people do appear to be leaving the site.

The B3098 between Erlestoke and Little Cheverell is said to be lined with cars, driven by people attending the rave.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We received reports of an illegal rave that was taking place at a farm in the Great Cheverell area from the early hours of this morning (02/10).

“Officers attended the gathering and started to turn away people who were arriving.

“We are still at the scene dealing with the incident with those at the gathering starting to now leave the area.”
