UPDATE: Motorcyclist, 50s, killed in head-on crash with van near Avebury
A serious crash involving a motorcycle has shut a busy route near Avebury.
Emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A4361 at Winterbourne Monkton at around 7.30am today (Friday).
Great Western Air Ambulance attended the incident – which involved a van and a motorcycle – alongside many 999 crews.
A forensic collision investigation is being undertaken at the scene, with the road likely to remain closed into the late evening.
In a statement at 12.30pm, Wiltshire Police confirmed where closures are in place.
A spokesperson said: “At Beckhampton roundabout there is no access through Avebury. You can access Marlborough via the A4.
“The Avenue between West Kennet A4 to Avebury is also closed.
“Winterbourne Monkton is closed up to Broad Hinton Cross Roads.”
