A second woman has died after a body was found in a Wiltshire village home.
Police were called to a property in White Street, Market Lavington, on 31 July after concerns were raised about the welfare of an elderly woman.
Paramedics declared the woman, aged in her 90s, dead at the scene.
A second woman, aged in her 50s and resided at the address, was rushed to hospital by Wiltshire Air Ambulance after suffering a cardiac arrest – but she has since died.
Detective Sergeant Sam Hopkinson said that both deaths are being treated as “unexplained” and an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
In a statement, she wrote: “A woman who was taken ill at a property in Market Lavington has sadly died.
“On July 31, officers attended a house in White Street, Market Lavington, following a report concerning the welfare of a woman in her 90s. The woman was sadly declared dead at the scene.
“A second woman who lived at the property, aged in her 50s and who was not related to the deceased, has also passed away in hospital due to a medical condition.
“Both deaths are currently being treated as unexplained but there is no third-party involvement and we are not looking for anyone else.
“We are awaiting the results of the post-mortem of the woman in her 90s. A file for the woman in her 90s will now be prepared for the coroner.”
