Floral tributes have been laid at the scene of a suspected murder in Tisbury.
A 31-year-old woman’s body was found at a residential address in Churchill Estate at around 6pm on Sunday evening (5 September).
A murder probe was launched and a man, believed to be known the victim, was arrested on suspicion of her murder. The 25-year-old is currently being held in police custody.
On Monday afternoon (6 September), a number of bunches of flowers had been laid near the front door of the property as it was guarded by police officers.
One of the labels read: “Such a sad waste of life. R.I.P”
As the investigation got underway on Sunday, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson released the following statement:
“We’ve launched an investigation following the death of a 31-year-old woman in Tisbury.
“Officers were called to a residential address on Churchill Estate shortly before 6pm this evening (05/09) following the discovery of the deceased.
“We’ve arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody at this time and our enquiries are ongoing.”
The spokesperson continued: “The local community in Tisbury are likely to see an increased police presence overnight as our investigation continues.
“We would like to stress that, at this time, there is nothing to suggest any risk to wider community.”
