A road was closed in Highworth after a damaged electric cable caused a fire.
Emergency services were called to a blaze breaking out alongside the A361 Lechlade Road, near ALDI, at around 2.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday).
At least two fire engines and a water bowser appliance were sent to the scene.
It’s understood an electrical cable was damaged, subsequently setting fire to some trees and shrubbery.
Due to cables coming down across the busy A361 – between Roundhills Mead and Lechlade – and the route was closed for around three hours.
The electric company, SSE, also had engineers in attendance to make the scene safe.
The road has since reopened.
