A driver has escaped injury despite completely wrecking his vehicle in a crash near Cricklade.

Police and the fire service were called to the scene in Marston Meysey at just before midday, where the grey Mercedes X-Class pick-up truck was involved in a road traffic collision.

On arrival, the driver was found to have self-extricated and was uninjured.

A police PCSO who attended the scene said: “There are days in this job where you see and experience things that you never thought you would ever have to, then there are times it surprises you beyond belief.

“The driver got himself out on his own prior to our arrival and didn’t even require any hospital treatment!”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service remained at the scene due to a fuel leak, using absorbent material and environmental protection to deal with the spill.
