A lorry driver has been reported to court following a crash with a car in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Drakes Way, at the junction with Penny Lane, at around 6.40pm yesterday evening.
A BMW, carrying three female passengers, was hit by the foreign-registered lorry when it was reportedly performing an illegal u-turn.
It’s claimed the driver made the manoeuvre after making a wrong turn into Penny Lane, towards the CarShop.
One of the car’s occupants, Jasmine Hunt, 21, told Wiltshire 999s that the driver “swang the lorry round and we hit the front of it” after he’d “tried to do an illegal u-turn”.
She added that the car “hit other cars before finally stopping on the central reservation”.
Wiltshire Police confirmed the lorry driver was reported to court for careless driving.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We responded to a report of a road traffic collision on Drakes Way at 6.40pm last night (24/02) involving an articulated lorry and a BMW car.
“Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the male driver of the lorry has been reported for careless driving.”
Jasmine is keen to contact a woman, who lives in Drakes Way, who came to her and her friend’s aid immediately following the crash. She wants to thank her personally for the support offered at the scene. If you are that woman or you know who she is, please contact us.
