Police officers have successfully talked down a man from a Swindon town centre car park this afternoon, after he threatened to jump.

The incident started sometime this morning, Sunday 4 June, and continued until around 1pm, on John Street near Casbah nightclub.

Armed police officers were at the scene

Around a dozen police vehicles parked in the bus bays on Fleming Way, alongside two ambulances who were there as a precaution.

Nearby roads and alleyways linking through to John Street were closed by police.

Armed response officers attended the scene to assist.

Wiltshire 999s understands that the incident was resolved successfully, with the male being detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to the police station for support.
