A police dog was called to track a runaway driver following an dramatic crash in Trowbridge.
Emergency services were called to A361 Frome Road shortly after midnight this morning (Wednesday).
A vehicle collided with an electricity pole and wall – with the driver failing to remain at the scene.
Police dog Bree and her handler were tasked with helping to locate the driver, responding to the call from Downton near Salisbury – approximately 40 miles away.
Despite the lengthy blue light run, Bree was able to track the suspect down. He was found in possession of the keys of the damaged vehicle in an alleyway near the town centre.
Wiltshire Police has not confirmed what vehicle was involved, if anybody was injured or if the man who fled the scene was arrested in connection with the incident.
The major route was closed in both directions – between Pitman Avenue and Allen Road – until this afternoon, as work was carried out to fix the electricity pole.
