A man facing a dangerous dog charge couldn’t turn up to court because he was stabbed.

55-year-old Robert Jones, Collingbourne Ducis, was knifed in an attack in Pewsey on 3 October – and remains in hospital in critical condition.

But the news had not reached crown prosecutor Pauline Lambert, who asked Swindon Magistrates’ Court to issue a warrant for his arrest earlier today (12 October).

District Judge Joanna Dickens issued a warrant for his arrest without bail, not knowing that he is in a coma and currently fighting for his life.

It is alleged that the defendants’ dogs – a Rottweiller and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier – were dangerously out of control and attacked an assistance dog.

The Border Terrier Cross, named Poppy, sustained injuries in the Chapel Lane area of Collingbourne Kingston on 14 April this year.
