Police in Swindon have closed a road in Swindon this evening after a Transit van overturned.
The occupant of the vehicle was helped from the van – which crashed on Downton Road in Penhill – but the driver fled the scene on foot immediately after he was rescued.
Two parked cars were also damaged during the collision.
The road was closed in both directions at 10pm. It’s expected to reopen before 11pm.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We received a number of calls reporting a collision in Downton Road shortly after 8.30pm last night.
”A Ford Transit van had overturned and hit another vehicle. Recovery was arranged for the van.
”The driver, a male aged in his 20s, ran from the scene. An area search was carried out to locate him and enquiries are ongoing. Any witnesses to the incident should call police on 101.”
