The Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer has called for a national lockdown.

In a post on social media, the politician pushed for the Prime Minister to bring in further restrictions on people’s movement as COVID-19 cases continue to rise exponentially.

“The virus is clearly out of control”, he said.

Adding: “It’s not good enough for the Prime Minister to hint at further restrictions at unspecified times and then do nothing.

“He must put national restrictions in place within the next 24 hours.

“No more dither, no more delay.”
