A man is due to appear in court charged with breaching Covid restrictions.
45-year-old Steven Daniels is accused of twice participating in a gathering without reasonable excuse in Swindon on 30 January 2021.
The defendant is charged with being in the group – both indoors and outdoors – at the derelict Mechanics’ Institute building in Emlyn Square.
The alleged offending took place while the town was in Tier 4, which prohibited gatherings of more than two people to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The man, who previously lived in Wiltshire and now lives in Bhylls Lane in Wolverhampton, is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Friday (19 December).
The case is listed as a first hearing. At this stage it’s unclear why it’s taken nearly five years to be heard in court.
