A new crime team called Fortitude, set up to tackle serious and high-profile crime across the county, has made its first arrest – an outstanding murder suspect.

The unit was launched by Wiltshire Police on Monday, made up of 30 officers who will proactively target the most serious offenders in the community.

Fortitude teams will also be working to react to intelligence and take action against county lines offenders, prolific offenders and others identified as posing a high-risk.

The team’s first arrest was an individual wanted for murder. The arrest related to the suspicious death of James ‘Jimmy’ Wheaton at his home in Galsworthy Close on Thursday 8 October.
