National Highways is warning of long delays after a crash on the M4 near Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway close to Membury Services at around 4pm this afternoon (Friday).
The road was closed between junctions 14 and 15 to allow 999 crews to work – with around four miles of congestion reported.
Shortly before 5pm, the carriageway was reopened and motorists were released. However, delays continue as one lane remains shut.
In the latest update, a spokesperson said: “Traffic has been released on the M4 westbound between J14 Shefford Woodlands and J15 Badbury following a multi vehicle collision.
“Emergency services continue to work at scene. Lane 1 (of 3) remains closed to facilitate vehicle recovery.
“Delays of up to 45 minutes at present.”
