A woman sparked an armed police response after she allegedly made death threats.
Firearms officers raced to an address in Foundry Close, Melksham, at around 1pm on Friday (2 December).
Local police closed the road and stopped residents from accessing their homes until about 6pm, where some were escorted into the cordon with children after a cold wait.
It’s thought the suspect made threats towards officers at the scene – resulting in a number of specialist negotiators being called in to attempt engagement.
By 7pm, officers had apprehended the woman. She was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and affray.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Following our attendance at an address in Foundry Close, Melksham, we have arrested a woman on suspicion of making threats to kill and affray.
“The road was closed for some hours today while police negotiators and other professional agencies worked to bring the situation to a safe resolution.
“We would like to thank members of the local community for their understanding and patience during this time.”
