A Melksham man has been charged with killing a biker on an A350 junction.
Johannes De-Vogel is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday) to face an allegation of causing death by careless driving.
The 36-year-old, who was driving a Skoda Kodiaq, is accused of pulling into the path of Richard Beasley – who was riding a motorcycle on 14 November 2023.
Emergency services attended the scene but despite their best efforts, the man – aged in his 60s and from Chippenham – sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead.
A full-scale forensic collision investigation was carried out at the crash site, with the A350 – between Lacock and Melksham – closed both ways for more than 12 hours.
At today’s hearing De-Vogel, of Rosemary Way, will learn whether his case will be dealt with by magistrates or a Judge in the crown court. A plea may or may not be entered at this stage.
