A man discovered in a Swindon road is fighting for his life in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Cirencester Way, near Transfer Bridges Roundabout, shortly before 11pm on Tuesday (22 October).
A man, aged in his 50s, was found lying in the busy main road with significant head injuries, including what is believed to be a fractured skull.
Members of the public provided first aid ahead of 999 crews arriving on scene, including critical care medics from Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The man was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
Wiltshire Police cordoned off the road and enquiries were carried out by forensic collision investigators and forensics. The road reopened at around 7am today (Wednesday).
However, it has not yet been established how the man came about his wounds.
A force spokesperson said: “We are keeping an open mind as to the cause of the man’s injuries.
“Any witnesses to what may have happened is asked to contact us on 101 quoting 354 of yesterday’s date.”
