A wanted Swindon criminal has been arrested after a rooftop stand-off.
Jamie Loveridge was taken into custody following an incident just off Crombey Street, in the town centre, which began at around 5.45pm this afternoon (Friday).
It’s understood the well-known bicycle thief, who is wanted on a prison recall, attempted to evade officers.
The 28-year-old climbed onto single-storey rooftops connected to homes in Stanier Street before reportedly throwing bricks.
According to a local resident, he also struck himself in the head with a brick and pulled at potentially live wires and cables.
At the height of the incident, there were 13 uniformed police officers present alongside three plain-clothed negotiation-trained officers.

An ambulance crew, an ambulance operations officer and a fire crew were also on scene.
Due to the risk posed to the public by missiles, Crombey Street and several surrounding roads and alleyways were cordoned off.
At around 7.10pm, Loveridge came down from the rooftop and was taken into custody.
In an update, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “An incident in Crombey Street has now been safely resolved and the road closure lifted.
“We have also arrested Jamie Loveridge following our appeal earlier.”
