A man’s been arrested after damaging an ambulance in Swindon town centre yesterday evening.
Paramedics were understood to be attempting to treat the man outside the Central Library at around 6pm, when he became violent towards them and then lashed out at their ambulance.
A short time later, police arrived at the scene and located the suspect around 100 metres from the ambulance – leaving Morrisons at Regent Circus, where the store had refused to serve him.
People gathered to watch the drama, as the man became incredibly aggressive towards the police officers – causing them to restrain him on the floor and strap his legs together to stop him kicking.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public order offences.
He remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station this afternoon.
