A man has been charged with murder after a woman died in Frome.
Emergency services attended a home in Portway at around 3am on Tuesday (30 July).
Police were called to the scene by paramedics, who were treating 29-year-old Olivia Wood.
The casualty, aged 29 and from Northwich, Cheshire, was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Despite medics’ best efforts, she died later that day.
The woman’s next of kin has been informed, and they are being supported by a specialist officer.
Keiron Goodwin, of Frome, has been charged with murder and will appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green said: “Our thoughts at this devastating time are with Olivia’s family who are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer who will continue to keep them updated of enquiries into her tragic death.
“We’d like to reassure the local community, we do not believe there to be any wider risk to the public.”
