Wiltshire Police has launched an investigation into a collision on the M4 after a man discharged from hospital died when he returned home.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, emergency services were called to the overturned car – a black Dacia Duster – on the M4 near Leigh Delamere at around 11.15am.

The car collided with the central reservation and crossed into lane three of the westbound carriageway before landing on its roof.

The driver, a man in his 70s from the Gloucester area, sustained minor injuries as a result and was taken to Southmead Hospital. He returned home later that day where he suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.

A police spokesperson said: “We would like to hear from anyone with information about the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage.

“Please call 101 and quote log number 90 of September 30.”
