A man from Indonesia has been charged with killing a biker in a horror crash on the A303.
Two air ambulances were scrambled to a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on in the Charnage Hill area, near Mere, at around 10.30am on Sunday (29 June).
Three motorcycles were struck by a Citroen C5, with two of the bikers seriously injured.
Theron Debona, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man, Paul Bradley, sustained life-changing injuries.
A forensic collision investigation was launched, with the driver of the car – Nicholas Blackbeard – arrested on suspicion of drug driving, causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The 66-year-old, of Bali, Indonesia, has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was remanded in police custody and is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday).
It’s understood a remand was sought due to the defendant residing in Indonesia – with a risk that, if released, he may not return to he UK for any criminal proceedings.
The court will decide whether or not Blackbeard should remain in prison while the case progresses. Magistrates will made a decision after assessing his character and any assurances he can give.
