A man ‘caught being sexually inappropriate’ with children in a Melksham park has been arrested.
Police raced to King George V Park earlier this afternoon (Sunday) after concerned adults intervened in an incident and called 999.
It’s alleged a man approached a number of girls – some as young as ten years old – in the area, and engaged them in a conversation.
The chat appeared innocent at first but progressed into being sexually inappropriate and he has asked them for their Snapchat usernames, it’s claimed.
Officers attended the scene and arrested a man in connection with the reports made. At this stage, it is unclear for what exactly offence he was arrested.
In a statement, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We have attended an incident within King George V Park this afternoon where children have been approached by an adult male.
“A male has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
“We are aware some witnesses may have left the park before police arrival.
“Should you or your child have been involved in this incident please contact us on 101 quoting log 161 of 22/12/24.”
The force also thanked members of the public who intervened.
