A man’s been arrested after ‘date rape drugging himself’ in a Pewsey car park.
Emergency services responded to reports of an unconscious casualty off the A345 near Pewsey Wharf at around 5.30pm on Friday (20 February).
The ambulance service attended but following concerns about a suspicious package with the man, a Hazardous Area Response Team were deployed.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and Wiltshire Police were contacted – and the area was cordoned off as an investigation was launched.
The incident, which occurred in the car park of the former French Horn pub, saw a significant emergency response.

The suspicious package was later confirmed to contain the Class B drug GHB, a central nervous system depressant often referred to as a date rape drug.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that the man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment and subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
