A man’s been charged with seriously wounding his father in an assault in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to a house in Winton Road, off Highworth Road, following reports of an attack at around 11.30pm on Thursday night (16 February).
Paramedics rushed the homeowner, Neville Kyme, to hospital with serious head injuries following the incident – including a suspected bleed on the brain.
Forensic work was carried out at the scene over the course of Friday (17 February) and Saturday (18 February), with crime scene investigators gathering vital evidence.

The victim’s son, 39-year-old Carl Kyme, has since been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, an offence that – if convicted – carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, the defendant, of Awgar Stone Road, Oxford, did not enter any pleas and the bench sent the case to Swindon Crown Court.
Magistrates released Kyme on bail, with conditions not to enter Swindon, not to contact his father directly or indirectly, to live and sleep at his home address and report to Cowley Police Station five times a week.
