A man has been charged with the sexual assault of a teenage girl in Wiltshire.
41-year-old Paul Merser appeared before Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday (13 January).
The defendant, of Canonsfield Road, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, did not enter pleas to a charge of assaulting a female aged 13 and over by penetration with a body part.
Due to the offence being indictable only, the case was sent to Salisbury Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 23 February.
Merser was released on bail with conditions not to contact the victim or other named people directly or indirectly.
The alleged victim in this case has the life-long legal right to anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to their identification.
