A man has has been charged with having sex with a horse in a stable in Trowbridge.
Damion Ogeare appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (Friday).
The 43-year-old, who represented himself, denied charges of having sexual penetration of a Shetland pony and trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence.
Wiltshire 999s previously reported that a man was caught on CCTV entering a stable in Whaddon Lane, Hilperton, at around 6.30pm on 24 January this year.
The footage showed a suspect going into the building with boxer shorts and a top on, and leaving naked around 10 minutes later.
The court today heard that a chain with a leather strap had been left within the stable – an item not seen before. It’s believed it was used during the sex attack.
A rug covering the horse’s rear had also been lifted up.
An investigation was launched by police and a vet swabbed the animal’s genitals. The defendant, of Woolpack Meadows, Trowbridge, was later arrested and charged.
The case was sent to Salisbury Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation on 8 January 2025.
