A man who attacked another man with a golf club in Swindon has been jailed.
Liam Walsh struck Daniel Mapstone with the metal weapon in the Penhill Drive area on 1 December 2024 – sparking an armed police response.
The victim sustained injuries and needed hospital treatment. The defendant, of Burbage Road, was remanded in custody following the incident.
35-year-old Walsh later pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a golf club in a public place.
At Swindon Crown Court on 17 January, he was jailed for 40 months.
Court documents describe the offending as “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified”.
