A man has been arrested after a woman was found raped in a Swindon car park.
Police were called to the Dammas Lane short stay car park, opposite the Kioki nightclub in Old Town, in the early hours of Sunday morning (30 June).
It’s understood a local resident found the victim slumped against his vehicle – a red SEAT.
A blue tent was put over the car to preserve evidence at the scene, before a forensic investigator arrived to photograph the area and take swabs.
A man, aged in his 20s, has since been arrested. He is being held in custody on on suspicion of rape in connection with the alleged attack.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “A man has been arrested following a report of a serious sexual assault in Old Town, Swindon.
“The incident occurred in the Dammas Lane car park during the early hours of Sunday morning (30/6).
“A cordon was put in place whilst officers conducted extensive enquiries and yesterday evening we arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of rape.
“He remains in custody at Gablecross for questioning.”
It continued: “The cordon has now been lifted but enquiries will continue.
“We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and the victim is currently being supported by specialist officers.
