A man has been arrested following a paedophile hunter sting in Melksham.
Police were called to a residential property in the Forest area at around 7pm on yesterday evening (Friday, 16 May).
A so-called online child protection team confronted a man on his doorstep – alleging that he had been communicating with a teenager.
It’s claimed the married man was having sexually explicit chats with who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl on social media.
Officers arrived at the scene at around 7.45pm, arresting the suspect – a grandfather – and taking him into custody.
It’s understood he is being held on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child.
The news comes just 24 hours after a 59-year-old man was arrested after being confronted by paedophile hunters in Heytesbury, near Warminster.
Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
