A 45-year-old man’s been attacked with a weapon in Swindon town centre.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses following the incident in the early hours of this morning, at around 0.15am, in an alleyway between Corporation Street and Alfred Street.
Police say that an altercation between a group of males and the man took place, leaving a male victim with cuts to his back and face – caused by an unknown weapon.
He is being treated in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Det Sgt Scott Anger said: “This is a busy area of the town, so someone must have seen or heard something suspicious. We’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed an altercation between males in the area around midnight Saturday night (7 July) into the early hours of Sunday 8 July.
“We are currently continuing our investigations and people may notice an increased police presence in this part of town.”
