A group of males have been spotted with an axe in a children’s play park in Chippenham.

Police responded to a call from a member of the public reporting sighting at Audley Park, in Audley Road, at around 3.40pm this afternoon (Sunday, 21 August).

Officers attended the scene and swiftly detained two males – who were reportedly wearing balaclavas – in Rudman Park.

Neither of the suspects were found to be in possession of a weapon and were allowed on their way.

A short time later, officers were spotted searching Audley Park. They could be seen peering into the hedgerow and looking around the climbing frame, believed to be seeking out weapons.

Wiltshire Police said officers “gave words of advice to two teenagers matching the description” of the suspects reported to have had the axe.

The force confirmed that no weapons were recovered and no arrests were made.
