UPDATE: Boats deployed on River Avon in search for missing Sebastian
A major search operation is underway after a Chippenham man disappeared.
21-year-old Sebastian was last seen at around 11.30pm yesterday (Thursday, 27 February).
It’s believed he went to The Black Horse pub in New Road before heading towards the town centre.
Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) have launched an urgent search – with specialist teams joining the hunt this evening (Friday).
New information shared online suggests Sebastian was seen in the Lovers Walk/Gladstone Road area, close to the River Avon.
At 8pm, officers were using a device to search the weir area. Yellow wires were dangled into the water from the Radial Gate, but didn’t uncover anything of concern.
Dozens of WILSAR volunteers have been deployed from an RV point in Westmead Lane. It’s understood boats have been requested, so the river can be searched.
Sebastian is a white male, described as about 5ft 10in, with brown hair in a fringe, has a slim build and was last seen wearing a grey jumper, blue jeans and a beige fur lined jacket.
“The fact that he has gone missing is out of character and his family are extremely concerned for his welfare”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
Call the force on 999 if you know of Sebastian’s whereabouts.
