An M4 junction and the A419 is closed following a serious collision in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision on Junction 15 of the M4 at around 11.30pm last night (Tuesday, 2 January).
A significant amount of 999 resources were sent to the scene, including a police helicopter – which circled above for at least 30 minutes.
The road will remain closed in both directions between Commonhead Roundabout and Junction 15 until this afternoon (Wednesday). The Junction 15 exit slip road is closed in both directions.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Drivers please be aware that road closures remain in place around junction 15 for the M4 following yesterday evening’s serious RTC.
“The A419 southbound from the Commonhead roundabout to the M4 is closed, and the M4 eastbound exit slip road for junction 15 is also closed.
“These closures are likely to remain in place through the morning rush hour.
“Drivers are currently unable to travel around the junction 15 roundabout, so those leaving the M4 at junction 15 westbound are only able to travel onto the A346 southbound or rejoin the motorway westbound.
“The motorway itself remains fully open.
“We appreciate the travel difficulties and delays these closures will cause so please allow extra time for your journeys.
