There’s a large police presence in a Swindon street this evening as firearms officers are called after a woman was assaulted.

Six police units, including an armed response vehicle, are parked on Groves Street, Jennings Street and Linslade Street. They’ve been at the scene since around 2.30pm.

Officers are guarding the front and back of a property, wielding shields, in Groves Street.

At 5.35pm, an ambulance arrived at the scene on blue lights.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called by the ambulance service just after 1pm to an address in Groves Street, Swindon.

”This is believed to be a domestic incident – it is believed a woman has been assaulted. The incident is ongoing.”
