Two suspected jewellery thieves have been arrested after police chase in Chippenham.
The National Police Air Service helicopter was deployed as officers attempted to stop a vehicle linked to a robbery in Devizes at around midday today (Friday).
A tray of gold jewellery was taken from a store in Estcourt Street, Devizes at 12.10pm.
A short time later, police located the getaway vehicle – a Renault Clio – in the Hardenhuish Lane area of Chippenham.
A pursuit was authorised and officers from roads policing, armed response and the Local Policing Tasking Team, tracked it to the A350 near Junction 17 of the M4.
The vehicle was successfully stung and brought to a stop without contact with any police cars. The stolen jewellery was also recovered.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft.
They have been taken into custody for questioning.
