A homeless man has today appeared in court accused of a hammer attack at a hotel.
Butch Sosa, 33, of no fixed abode, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following the serious incident at the Swandown Hotel in Victoria Road, Swindon, on Tuesday, 16 March.
It’s alleged he entered a staff area of the hotel, took his victim – a man not known to the defendant – out of bed, put him in a headlock and hit him over the head with a hammer.
Police and ambulance were called to the scene and Sosa was arrested.
His victim is said to have lost consciousness and lost a tooth during the attack.
Sosa, a rough sleeper placed at the Swandown Hotel by the council, was remanded in custody after appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.
The case was adjourned to Swindon Crown Court, on a date to be fixed.
