Homeless man found deceased in tent in Swindon named locally as Dan Greenwood

A homeless man who was found deceased in a tent on the Swindon College campus this morning has been named locally as Dan Greenwood.

On Facebook, Gary Turland wrote: “Just heard Dan Greenwood passed away. I dont know any details, etc but really sad news. really gutted to hear this. R.I.P mate”.

Another, Melissa Heys said: “R.I.P dan greenwood thoughts are with your family done but never forgotten”.

Commenting on his homeless situation, Steve Murtough commented: “I really am gutted RIP Dan Greenwood was a great lad always liked him just wish some people was more genuine and generous in life all he wanted was a bit of help , won’t b forgot mate”.

POLICE AT THE SCENE NEAR SWINDON COLLEGE

Police and ambulance were called to the scene – a wooded area behind the football pitches on North Star Avenue – at around 11.20am today, where they discovered this body.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called by the ambulance service to a report that a male had been found deceased in grounds at Swindon College at 11.20am today.

“The death of the man, aged in his 30s, is not believed to be suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.”
