More than a dozen firefighters worked to free a casualty from a car by removing its roof this morning, following a head-on road traffic collision just off Thamesdown Drive.
The crash happened at around 8am this morning, on Purton Road near the junction with Chicory Close.
The incident involved two cars; a blue Renault Clio and a black Mercedes.
Two fire crews, from Westlea and Stratton fire stations, attended the scene. One female casualty was physically trapped and extricated from the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment.
One woman was taken to hospital, where it’s understood she remains at this time.
The road was fully reopened at around 10am.
