Highway changes which will widen approach lanes to the roundabout with all three entry points being signal controlled will have a significant positive impact particularly in the peak morning period.
The Devizes Air Quality and Transport Strategy Group had recommended the £347,000 scheme go ahead at a recent Devizes Area Board meeting.
Philip Whitehead, cabinet member for highways, said: “By making these simple improvements we can greatly ease traffic on this key junction and thus help towards improving air quality. We ask all road users to bear with us while the work goes on so we can all benefit from these changes.”
Anna Cuthbert, chair of the Air Quality and Transport Strategy Group at the area board said: “These improvements will make significant positive changes to this particular stretch. However, we are always conscious of the challenges we face in Devizes and we will continue to work together to look at all measures to address these issues.”
