Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation into a crash at a Swindon car meet.
Two cars were seen drifting around group of people when the collision happened in Newcombe Drive, on Hawksworth Industrial Estate, at around 11pm on Saturday (30 September).
The driver of one of the vehicles, thought to be a red BMW, hit a parked car and lost control – subsequently impacting four people in the crowd.
One of those injured – a woman – was taken to hospital with what was believed to be a serious injury. However, her injuries are now described as minor and she was discharged.
Officers believe four cars were involved in the incident, with one having left the scene.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle, going equipped to steal and driving without insurance or a licence.
However, police said the charge did not relate the the crash which occured. He is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 18 October.
PC Craig Beales, of the Roads Policing Unit said: “This was a serious incident which could have ended very badly. If the woman injured had been standing in front of the parked car her injuries could have been life changing if not life threatening.
“Wiltshire Police’s Road Policing Unit are investigating what happened that night at the car meet and we’re watching any footage we receive to try to identify any offences that took place.
“We would urge anyone who saw what happened or who has footage from that night that could help with our enquiries to please get in touch.”
The force are said to be working with partner agencies, including Swindon Borough Council, to try to prevent further anti-social behaviour from car meets.
