Forensics are combing a house after after a woman was killed in an explosion.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Orchard Crescent, Chippenham, at around 3.20pm this afternoon (Thursday).
A woman, aged in her 40s, was seriously wounded in an explosion. She was subsequently pronounced dead by attending paramedics shortly after their arrival.

Neighbours were seen exiting the property, sobbing and hugging as as convoy of emergency vehicles streamed into the street with their sirens blaring.
At the height of the incident, there were eight police vehicles, two fire engines, four fire cars, an ambulance and an ambulance rapid response vehicle present.

At 8pm, a cordon remained in place as a forensic investigator and two fire investigators carry out an examination of the scene.
The explosion is believed to have occurred at the rear of the detached home.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We can confirm that a woman has sadly died following an incident at an address in Chippenham this afternoon. (5/3)
“Along with the fire service and ambulance colleagues, we attended an address in Orchard Crescent at approximately 3.20pm today following a report of an explosion.
“Sadly, a woman in her 40s died at the scene.
“The woman’s next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with her family at this time.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
