Forensics arrived at the scene of a fatal house fire in Swindon this afternoon as they investigate the circumstances of the blaze which claimed the life of a middle-aged local man.
Emergency services were called to the incident in Melville Close, Walcot, at around 2.30am today, where they worked to save the life of the 52-year-old in the usually quiet residential road.
Two crime scene investigators and a fire investigator from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the property at around 11.45am to begin their probe into this morning’s event.
DS Sarah Munday said: “This is a tragic incident and I am sure it will have an impact on the local community.
“I would like to reassure them that our enquiries will continue throughout the day and they will likely notice an increased police presence in the area.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this time.”
