A man’s been arrested under the Coronavirus Act after laying in the road for three hours.
Members of the public tried to help the man whilst keeping to social distancing rules, but their efforts were unsuccessful and Wiltshire Police were called to the scene.
Two passing women worked to direct ongoing vehicles around the intoxicated man in Cricklade Road, at the junction with Caulfield Road, in Gorse Hill, Swindon since around midday.
At just before 2pm this afternoon, officers arrested the man – a known street drinker – on suspicion of breaching the Coronavirus Act and being drunk and disorderly in the public place.
Wiltshire 999s understands police officers have given him a number of warnings about being out without reasons, and even took him home on two occasions in the last 24 hours.
We’ve approached Wiltshire Police for comment.
