A fire engine responding to an emergency call has been blocked by parked cars.
A crew from Westlea Fire Station were en route to an incident in Old Town, Swindon – but were forced stop because their pump was unable to fit through a gap.
“Unfortunately the vehicles shown meant we were unable to get the appliance anywhere near the property we were attending”, a Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
“Thankfully, this was not a fire incident as our hoses would not have been able to reach.”
People are being urged to consider where they park more carefully – taking into account the space required for fire engines, ambulances and other large emergency vehicles to pass.
They added: “Please think when parking your vehicles, are we getting through? Especially this time of year when visiting friends and families and more vehicles in areas than normal.”
